Judging a Book by its Cover and its Contents
by Abraham Foxman

One should never judge a book by its cover, but in the case of former President Jimmy Carter’s latest work, "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid," we should make an exception. All one really needs to know about this biased account is found in the title. Listen to his conclusions: "Israel’s continued control and colonization of Palestinian land have been the primary obstacles to a comprehensive peace agreement in the Holy Land." In order to reach such a simplistic and distorted view of the region, Carter has to ignore or downplay the continuing examples of Palestinian rejection of Israel and terrorism. This is not a serious book. It is poorly written, thoroughly unbalanced, factually erroneous on fundamental points. (American Thinker)

Using Palestinian Women as Bombs
by Clara Beyler

One is tempted to conclude from this month's events that Palestinian women are taking the initiative and playing a bigger role in the Palestinian national struggle, but such an assumption would be erroneous. In both incidents - 18-year-old Merfat Masoud's suicide bombing and the mosque standoff - the women were used. In the mosque standoff, women were used as human shields in order to bypass security and attract international media coverage. Hamas attained both goals, as the Palestinian terrorists fled and journalists picked up the news. Most reports focused on the women's deaths rather than on their cynical use by Hamas. Blair Is Conceding a Critical Argument
by Daniel Finkelstein

I am struck by Prime Minister Blair's thesis that the Israel-Palestinian dispute is the core issue and that we must now bend every effort to reaching a solution. I think he is quite wrong here. He seems to have accepted the idea that we will only win the war on terror once there is peace in Israel. The truth is that there will only be peace in Israel once we have won the war on terror.  Mr. Blair has accepted the idea that the behavior of the State of Israel is the underlying grievance that drives on the Islamists and wins them what support they have in the Arab world. The truth is very different. The Palestinian crisis and the tragedy of the poor Palestinian people is an effect, an outcome, not a cause. The writer is Comment Editor of The Times. (Times-UK)

It's Worth Investing in the Jewish State
by Uri Dromi

If the established American Jewish community gets older, and young cohorts are not following in big numbers, does this mean that in the future, it will become more difficult to secure the traditional American foreign aid to Israel?  James Wolfenson (pictured), former president of the World Bank and special representative of the ''Quartet'' of International Mediators in the Middle East Peace Settlement, just spoke at a Jewish event in Chicago, and he made some telling remarks. Wolfenson, no foe of Israel, reportedly cautioned his listeners that a new global situation is emerging in which America will find it more difficult to back Israel. Breaking the Ice
by Danny Yatom

Terrorism will be defeated when we utilize diplomatic moves alongside uncompromising war, and the time is not playing in Israel's favor. As time passes, the Iranian threat continues to grow, the situation in the Palestinian Authority deteriorates and could result in chaos that won't help us, the siege on Syria is being eroded, and the United States is directing more resources to addressing the Iraq situation. All of those factors could negatively affect Israel's strategic position. The renewal of negotiations with Syria comes with risks, but it also offers significant chances.  We should also be talking with Palestinian leader Abbas.
