Gaza Truce to Go into Effect on Sunday

An Israeli and Palestinian cease-fire in the Gaza Strip is to go into effect at 6 a.m. Sunday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office said Saturday. Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas telephoned Olmert late Saturday to tell him he had arrived at an agreement with all Palestinian factions to stop all violence from Gaza, Olmert spokeswoman Miri Eisin said. Abbas asked that Israel reciprocate by stopping all military operations in Gaza and withdrawing all its forces and Olmert agreed, she said. (Ha'aretz)

Wired Teddy Bear Found in West Bank

Wired teddy bears to be used for explosives were found in an Israeli raid of an explosives lab in the West Bank city of Nablus on Friday, military officials said. Israeli paratroopers and intelligence officials also found cloth belts that could contain explosives, and a coat used for hiding explosives. Since Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in the summer of 2005, Palestinian terrorist organizations based there have increased their rocket attacks on Israeli communities in the Western Negev, firing more than 1,000 Kassam rockets at Israeli civilians. Iran and Syria Helping Hizballah Rearm

Iran is smuggling weapons through Syria to re-arm  Hizballah in Lebanon, despite renewed efforts by United Nations peacekeepers and the Lebanese army to seal off the mountain borders with Syria, according to reports by Saudi and Israeli intelligence sources. Western diplomats in Beirut say that Hizballah has now filled its war chest with over 20,000 short-range missiles - a similar amount to what they had at the start of the conflict, during which the group is believed to have fired over 3,000 rockets at Israel. Over the past three months, Iranian Revolutionary Guard officers have been operating out of a military base on the outskirts of Damascus. (Time
